How it works
  1. Everyone gets $20 and five empty slots. NBA: PG, SG, SF, PF, C. NFL: QB, RB, WR, TE and a FLEX (a runner, receiver or tight end).
  2. The deck is hidden. It holds exactly one card per slot per seat. The best card at every slot is always in it. The rest fall off a cliff.
  3. Cards come up one at a time. Bid in whole dollars. Every bid restarts the clock. When it hits zero, the claw takes the card to the high bidder.
  4. The overall stays hidden until the card sells. You bid on the name.
  5. Any card, any open slot. If its natural slot is full it plays out of position and gives up a few overall points (a point guard at centre gives up 13). You can never bid more than leaves $1 for every empty slot.
  6. A card nobody bids on is tossed. Any slot still empty at the end plays a 55-rated fill-in, so passing has a price.
  7. Your lineup sorts itself. Every time you win a card, your players re-arrange into the spots that give you the best total rating.
  8. When the deck is empty, one simulated game (a small bracket for 3 to 5 seats) decides it. Online games move your rating.
